About Me

Enjoying Different Types of Recreation For years, I played sports with my friends in the park. However, after doing the same things day after day, I started trying to figure out different ways to keep things interesting. I was able to find a really inspiring group that did a wide range of different recreational activities, including group running, motorbike racing, and even paragliding. We had a great time together, and I can honestly say they expanded my horizons. Check out this website for more information on enjoying different types of recreation with your friends or family. You won't believe how much of a difference a little adventure can make.

7 Last-Minute Holiday Gifts For Your Favorite Outdoorsman

It can be hard shopping for someone when you don't understand their favorite pastime. Even if you don't like trekking through the woods, sleeping in a tent in the rain, or wearing camo, you can buy a great gift for your favorite outdoorsman that they will cherish.

1. Fishing Pole: If you ask, the fisherman will go on and on about all the fishing poles and gear on his or her shopping list. There is always some new pole, fancy reel, cool fly fishing tool, or fancy lure that they want to try in order to land that elusive "big one." If you play your cards right, they probably won't even realize that you are looking for ideas on what to buy for their holiday gift.

2. Ammo: If you loved one prefers to hunt, he or she can always use more ammo. From handguns to rifles, your gun lover will appreciate the extra ammunition the next time they hunt or target shoot. Of course, if you package up that ammo in a nice, new gun safe, they'll appreciate it even more.

3. Multi-Tool: Everyone, from weekend hikers to hardcore survivalists, will love a cool multi-tool. Its the gift that keeps on giving. Depending on your budget and what brand you buy, a multi-tool can house everything you need to survive in an emergency situation, from a tiny saw for firewood to a bottle opener for that lonely bottle of wine.

4. Flashlight: Every outdoorsman needs a good, quality flashlight, and if they've already got one, they need another. Not a $5 special that you grab from the checkout lane of your local grocery but one with all the bells and whistles. There are even flashlights on the market that do not require batteries. From flashlights that charge with a crank to solar flashlights, there are some very cool flashlights on the market for your favorite outdoorsman.

5. Deer Hoist: If your deer hunter struggles to bring the buck that he bagged home, a hoist may be the perfect holiday gift. Deer weigh between 140 and 170 pounds. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources even reports that the largest male ever harvested weighed in at a whopping 500 pounds. There is no way a hunter can lift that up into the bed of his truck, especially if he or she is hunting solo that day. A hoist designed specifically for this purpose and mounted to the bed of a pickup truck can make lifting the carcass a breeze and will be appreciated by any hunter.

6. Solar Lamp: Every outdoorsman can appreciate the uniqueness of a solar-powered lamp. Not only does it light the way without the use of electricity or batteries, but many solar lamps are also collapsible, allowing them to be tucked into a backpack, rifle sleeve, or tackle box. Better still, there are models on the market that have the ability to use the solar charge to recharge your cell phone.

7. French Press: Anyone who has spent anytime outdoors or has ever gone camping has had a cup of terrible coffee made over an open fire. Drinking such coffee has a certain charm that quickly disappears after the second or third time you pluck coffee grounds off your tongue. Grab a French press for your camping friend as a holiday gift instead. They can use their old, campfire coffee pot to heat up just the water and then transfer that hot water to the French press. After slowly presses down the plunger, they can enjoy a good cup coffee without the crunch.

If you have a beloved outdoorsman on your list, any of these gift ideas will make their holiday season. Get more ideas from a company such as Wilcox Bait & Tackle.
